Did we ever think we’d be playing a festival with Arlo Guthrie, Glen Hansard, Christine Anu, Gurrumul and Kate Miller-Heidke? Uh, no. But we’re stoked to announce we’ve been added to the eclectic lineup of Port Fairy’s famous festival along with Celt legends The Popes and a stack of other awesome artists including The Ugly Uncles, the Zydegators, as well as icons like Shane Howard and Russell Morris. It’s gonna be a pretty unique outing – we dunno which days we’re playing yet but we’ve blanked out the diary for the whole festival. There’s a promise of stacks of banjoes, fiddles, drinking, you know, so we’ll slide right on in there. Our biggest festival yet! You can still get tickets if you’re quick. ROAD TRIP!
So, last year we played this show at Baha Tacos in Rye and out of the blue a busload of awesome Roller Derby ladies showed up and showed us that their moves on the dancefloor were as deadly as their moves on the roller derby track. Suffice to say: we’re in love with derby culture and their kickarse skills so when the Victorian Roller Derby League Allstars asked us to play a show for them at Revolver on Friday 18 Jan, we said FKYES. Bascially, after their first trip to the USA, Victorian Roller Derby League Allstars went from being an unranked team to 11th their region. To take Australian roller derby to the next level in the world league, the Allstars need to get back to the USA, so they’re throwing a fundraising party and we’re headlining! With City Vs Country and Andrew Swift, not to mention the Allstars themselves who will be skating around Revolver all night handing out prizes and giveaways, it’s going to be a bangin’ way to bring in 2013!
Doors open at 8.30pm. Tickets are $15.00+bf from this little link here.
